THE CREATIVE SPIRIT FOUNDATION

MISSION

The Creative Spirit Foundation functions as a non-profit organization which seeks to contribute to the often underfunded independent arts community in the talents of filmmaking, writing, and music. The foundation understands and recognizes that getting a second project launched can be just as trying as a first project, and thus the foundation was created to assist artists who have already proven their talents. As such, the foundation only makes grants available to those artists who have previously submitted to the Creative Spirit Foundation Awards in any year. The entrant does not need to have been a winner in the awards competition to be eligible for a grant. Beginning with the 2011 season, the Creative Spirit Foundation will offer 100% (excluding operating expenses) of it’s submission fees, trophy fees, etc. in the form of grant monies to eligible artists. Total monies given as grants will vary depending on the year and the amount of submissions registered. In some years there may be no grants offered. For each awards season (January through July) that grant monies are available, one grant will be given to an artist in each medium of film, music, and in writing.

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

POLICIES
The Creative Spirit Foundation’s grants are made to the following:

1. Artist’s who have submitted their work to the Creative Spirit Foundation Awards either in the 2010, or 2011 season. All entrants are eligible regardless of their winning status.

2. Artists who are working on a specific new project (book, film, CD). The Foundation does not give grant monies for study programs, rehearsal space, etc.

3. The Foundation does not give grants to groups of artists, or directly to for profit companies. Only the individual artist may apply and receive a grant.

4. A grant will be given to an individual artist in each of the three talents of Film, Music, and Writing. Grant monies offered will be announced by the close of the awards competition, and applications may be submitted following the official announcement.

5. Grant monies will vary from year-to-year. It may be that no grants will be offered for that year.

6. The Foundation makes grants directly to individuals in compliance with Internal Revenue Service standards.

7. Depending on available monies, the Creative Spirit Foundation may also invest in various projects to strengthen it’s grant pool. More information on this opportunity will be posted as monies are available.

8. Deadline for grant submissions Available grants will be announced on July 1st of the calendar year, and the deadline for grant applications will be September 1st of that year.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT

Instructions on how to apply for a grant will be provided upon the announcement of available grants in June of each year.
