HONORING THE VERY BEST IN
MUSIC, FILM AND BOOKS!

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my submission copy after the judging process is over?

While we simply cannot return any submission after the judging process is over, we have taken great steps to ensure that all materials are recycled appropriately. The materials your DVD and CDs are made of is broken down and recycled, and books are recycled at a local paper-recycling center. This protects the artists, and ensures our mission to run a green company.

Who are the Creative Spirit Awards™ judges?

Unlike other competitions that are judged by corporate and/or non-industry professionals, the judges at the Creative Spirit Awards™ are comprised of industry professionals who have excelled in their fields. A panel of authors and/or editors will judge books, music will be judged by musicians and/or music publishing professionals, and producers, directors, and/or professional film critics will judge the film submissions. We take pride that our hand-selected panel of judges represents a peer-based judging process to ensure that each submission is evaluated by its own creative and artistic merits, and not based on a passive personal opinion.

Can I submit the same work in different categories?

Yes. There is no limit to the amount of categories a single project can submit to. Simply pick the best categories that fit your submitted work.

I work for a major publishing label and have an extensive catalog of titles. Is there a limit to how many submissions come from one company?

There are no limits based on the size of your company. Whether you have 10 titles or 1000 titles, the more titles that are submitted by a company, the better the chances of having multiple titles in your catalog be Creative Spirit Award™ Winners.

How will I know when I’ve won?

Of course not every submission will win in its category. The Creative Spirit Awards™ is by no means a “buy an award” program. If you’ve won one of these prestigious awards, you’ve deserved to win. To ensure our mission of running a green company, paper will be used to an extreme minimum and therefore it is very important to make sure you have entered a valid email address as the majority of correspondence including winners announcements will only be sent via email. You can expect to hear your results usually within 90-120 days of us receiving your submission materials.

Who can enter their work?

Whether you are an independent filmmaker or a minor or major studio, or a self-published author or a publishing company with thousands of titles, or a band just starting out or one signed with a minor or major label, the competition is open to everyone. Every submission is treated with the same respect so everyone has an equal chance of winning despite where they stand on the ladder. The competition is only open to those works that have been completed two years prior to the closing deadline, or will be completed six months in the future of the closing deadline.

My work has already been published, distributed, or previously released. Can I still enter?

Yes. The competition is geared towards celebrating excellence in the work submitted, and will not be disqualified for where the work may be in it’s marketing and sales campaign.

Can I order multiple awards for all the people involved in my winning submission?

Absolutely. When you are contacted that you are a winner, you will be told how to order multiple awards with each person’s (and/or company) name on each trophy.

How long does it take to receive my award?

Each trophy is custom produced once you have ordered them. Generally, the trophies are shipped about four-six weeks after receiving your order.

What do I submit?

For books that have not yet been released, you are encouraged to send advanced readers copies. For self-published titles, or titles that already have been released, submit the book(s) itself. Send two copies for each entry. For Music, send two CDs per entry. For the songs/singles categories, we encourage you to send only that song/single to be judged on its own CD. Film submissions must be sent on a professionally mastered DVD region 1 or 0. DVDs that are burnt on a generic DVD must be ensured to play properly on a region 1 or 0 DVD player or the submission will be disqualified. Send one DVD per entry. For submissions in which a specific portion of the film is to be judged (i.e. best actor, choreography, etc.) please put a timecode in and out of the segment to be judged, or simply submit only that portion to be judged on its own DVD.

What are the "Best Of" Awards?

At the end of the competition, all Platinum Winners will be re-judged and only one will be honored with:

  • Best Picture
  • Album of the Year
  • Book of the Year

Special Press Releases detailing this prestigious news, with information about the winning artists will be sent to key buyers, magazines, entertainment news providers, distributors, etc. following the close of the competiton in July 2010.
